Benchmark work

Firsts that set the standard for our field.

Beyond routine casing-head installation and welding, IWS has delivered a series of benchmark jobs — sour-service welds, rig-site installations and remedial repairs that raised the bar for what can be qualified in the field. Each is backed by testing and documentation operators can verify.

01
Rig-site installation · Sour service

NACE-compliant casing-head installation at the rig site

Installation and welding of an 18-5/8″ 4130 casing head onto J-55 casing on a sour-service gas well, completed to full NACE compliance in the field rather than in a workshop.

Why it matters

A benchmark for the company: among the first rig-site casing-head installations IWS delivered to full NACE compliance, establishing a repeatable field procedure for sour-service wells.

02
Offshore · Sole provider

Sole provider for NACE-compliant offshore casing-head installation

Because offshore gas fields require NACE compliance, IWS is relied on as the sole provider for this scope — with four casing-head installations and three workover / wellhead-repair campaigns delivered offshore to date.

Why it matters

A position earned on capability: IWS is the provider operators turn to when the offshore scope demands verified sour-service welding.

03
Workover · Hot-tapping

Full workover campaigns combining welding and hot-tapping

Two complete workover jobs delivered in partnership with a specialist hot-tapping contractor — IWS providing the workover welding services alongside the hot-tapping scope.

Why it matters

Evidence of IWS integrating cleanly into complex, multi-discipline live-well operations without compromising weld integrity or schedule.

04
Butt weld · Grade qualification

Qualified NACE-compliant butt weld of 14″ 95-grade high-collapse pipe

Butt weld of a 14″ 95-HC pipe for an offshore well, verified for NACE compliance through both material testing and a 30-day NACE test.

Why it matters

A landmark qualification for IWS — to the best of our knowledge among the first successful NACE-compliant welds of this pipe grade, proven by full 30-day NACE testing rather than asserted.

05
Re-stubbing · Well saved

Rig-site re-stub weld that completed a well instead of abandoning it

Butt weld of a 14″ 95-HS re-stubbing at an onshore gas well, allowing the well to be completed rather than abandoned.

Why it matters

A benchmark rig-site qualification of this pipe grade for IWS — and a direct commercial saving, turning a would-be abandonment into a completed producer.

06
Remedial · TIG on 4130

Remedial TIG welding of 4130 wellhead equipment in the field

TIG welding of four separate 4130 plugs within a 4130 spool on offshore wells, restoring wellhead equipment in place.

Why it matters

A benchmark remedial capability for IWS: NACE-compliant repair of 4130 wellhead equipment carried out at the rig site rather than requiring workshop return or replacement.

Notes: Field names, exact dimensions and proprietary procedure details are omitted out of respect for our clients and their confidentiality. Where a job is described as a benchmark or among the first of its kind, this reflects IWS's own experience and records; supporting test reports and documentation are available to qualified operators on request.
